LET THEM EAT CAKE!

LET THEM DIE-NASTY!

Season 18 - The French Renovation

The legendary, Canadian Comedy Award-winning improvised soap opera returns for its 18th season of romance, passion, betrayal and laughs! Hot on the heels of the highly successful 53-hour Soap-A-Thon, the cast of Die-Nasty is back for more!

This year, our setting is the turbulent era leading to the French Revolution and the Reign of Terror. As the country nears financial ruin, rumblings of discontent start to spread, and the peasants of France begin to throw off their yoke! An aristocratic family of privilege will engage in every known intrigue and deception to stay at the top of the heap (and stave off any meeting with Madame La Guillotine...). Powdered wigs will adorn severed heads as the people demand liberty!

Directed by the Yoda of Improv (and national treasure), Mr. Dana Andersen, Die-Nasty features the talents of renowned improvisors Matt Alden, Leona Brausen, Peter Brown, Belinda Cornish, Cathy Derkach, Tom Edwards, Jeff Haslam, Mark Meer, Cathleen Rootsaert, Sheri Somerville, Davina Stewart, Stephanie Wolfe, and Donovan Workun. Music is by Paul Morgan Donald, with technical wizardry by Brad Fischer.

The 18th season of Die-Nasty unfolds every Monday at 8pm at the Varscona Theatre (10329-83 Ave) until the end of May 2009. Tickets are just $10 and available at the door, starting at 7pm every Monday.

PACK UP YOUR TROUBLES

A 50-hour non-stop WW2 theatrical extravaganza.

Kent, 1944...

Why are people gathering at the sinister Doverlook Hotel? Who is the special guest rumoured to be attending the annual play at the village hall? What secret lurks in the old smugglers caves beneath the local pub?

Join us on a epic, improvised, comedy adventure, packed with rationing, heroism, nostalgia and great costumes.

A lot can happen in 50 hours! As the improvisers travel deeper into sleeplessness, they are reduced to their ‘lizard brain state’ and can no longer censor themselves, resulting in an extraordinary and euphoric live performance.
